Communications and Engagement Coordinator

Overview

The Communications and Engagement Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all communications and marketing activities, including donor engagement, of The Island Foundation and Country Offices (CO). The role is responsible for the development and implementation of organisational communication strategies and campaigns, the design and production of materials for print and online publishing, and management of The Island Foundation’s digital channels, including the website and social media. The role is also responsible for overseeing The Island Foundation’s brand and corporate identity, including logos, copyright​ and sponsorship.​

 

Location: Singapore.

Hours: 0.6 FTE.

 

Summary of responsibilities

Strategy and Analytics -
 

  • Drive the development and implementation of the Marketing and Communications Plan, including identifying key audiences, messages and objectives.

  • Generate regular analytics reports to track metrics and progress against the Plan, engagement levels and other relevant information.

  • Finalise and regularly review organisational brand guidelines. 

 

Content, Messaging and Channel Management -

  • Following the Marketing and Communications Plan, design and develop a Content Management System and presentation templates.

  • Effectively plan, schedule and execute across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other channels as required.

  • Ensure that Child Safeguarding principles and an empowering approach guide all external communications.

  • Ensure the website is kept up to date with engaging content that is accessible to a range of audiences.

  • Lead the production and publication of The Island Foundation newsletter. 

  • Manage the digital library and gather new materials both directly and through volunteers, freelancers and consultants.

  • Supervise and upskill the CO Content Developer to ensure a steady flow of content from the field.

  • Train CO field staff in brand guidelines, photography and videography. 

  • Lead The Island Foundation’s participation in global campaigns, events and initiatives as required. 

 

External Engagement and Impact Reporting -

  • Work across the organisation to identify, collect and present impact case studies, testimonials, success stories and other impact outcomes for a variety of stakeholders including donors.

  • Lead the production and publication of the Annual Report and other formal publications as required.

  • Seek opportunities to promote and advance awareness of, and support for, The Island Foundation’s mission and impact.

  • Contribute to the development of, and oversee the execution of, the fundraising strategy (with support from ED, Board and fundraising consultants) including:
    - Donor relations
    - Fundraising campaigns
    - Grants tracking (no grant writing required)
    - Donor stewardship
    - Engagement events.

  • Maintain up to date donor engagement records on the CRM platform (DonorDock). 

  • Stay abreast of key donor, branding and marketing policies and guidelines, and update the team if changes occur.

  • Provide and support external events, webinars, briefings and presentations as needed.

  • Create soft and hard copy brochures, leaflets, flyers, posters, info-packs, etc. as needed.

  • Monitor and review the effectiveness of engagement and communication strategies and revise as needed.

 

Media -

  • Manage media strategy and support the ED and other senior staff with the development of public statements and announcements.

  • Monitor media coverage of The Island Foundation and develop and manage relations with relevant reporters, news outlets and publications.

  • Serve as contact person for media, including the preparation of press statements as required.


 

Essential experience, skills and knowledge required

  • A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in communications (engagement) is required.

  • Developing communications plans, engagement and involvement activities (online and face to face) including strategy, goals, budget and tactics.

  • Strong project management skills and experience, including managing internal stakeholders and multiple projects at once.

  • Experience or willingness to work with internationally distributed teams and/or on programs/projects.

  • Great multitasker and capable of simultaneously managing multiple projects with different deadlines.
    Extensive writing and editing experience.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet short deadlines as well as long term project milestones.

  • Ability to turn complex and sometimes technical information into engaging content.

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach team members in a results oriented environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment.

  • Working knowledge of Google Workspace’s (formerly G Suite), Mailchimp, DonorDock, Photoshop, Canva and Wix.

  • Experience in Email Marketing.

Preferred experience, skills and knowledge

  • Some knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia.

  • Knowledge of The Island Foundation and its vision, mission and program.

Additional information

Duration of appointment: One year contract with possibility for extension.
